Being from Chicago, one of my most favorite foods is pizza. Unlike most Chicagoans, I like deep dish, but I don’t think the sun rises and sets on it. So, when my birthday came around this year, I knew the place I wanted to go to for dinner – Mozza in Newport Beach.
I was not disappointed. Not only does the restaurant have amazing décor and feel like a family eatery in Italy, but the food is outstanding. We got two salads to start. I wasn’t blown away, but they were good. Then came the pizzas – we chose the lentil pizza and the egg and potato pizza. All in all, I’d say the egg and potato pizza was out of this world. The lentil pizza was good, but we felt like Mozza did extreme pizza exceptionally well.
The highlight of the evening was the desert though – Mozza’s Butterscotch Budino. I’m not sure if I’ve ever had a desert that was this good. The sea salt mixed with the pine nuts and the butterscotch was unreal. I’d go back simply for the desert.
All in all, I’d give Mozza a five out of five. It was awesome.
