Looking for a good dive bar? Well you’ve found it and let me tell you, looks can be deceiving. Upon first glance, Beach Ball seems like your run-of-the-mill dive bar, but step inside and you’ll be surprised by what you find.
Upon entering you’ll find the bar to the left – the bar area is small, but a good use of space. Depending on what time you go (Beach Ball opens at 6:00 a.m.) the bar area can be crowded. If it is past 10:00 p.m., I’d recommend heading down to the second level, but more on that later.
If you are lucky enough to get a spot by the bar, you’ll be pleased with what you find. The staff is attentive and it usually is a very quick turn-around time to get a drink. Once you’re hydrated, head down to the second level. There you will find arcade games (Golden Tee anyone?), pool tables and a ton of seating.
The cool thing about Beach Ball is that it has a very laid back vibe and approach to being a “bar.” There is nothing pretentious here. The other fun bonus is the juke box, that’s right – you can pick your jams. Some of my friends have been known to pull out Huey Lewis, but that artist has since been removed…sorry guys! J
Beach Ball is a great place to get your friends together for a low-key, but awesome night. It’s right off the water and a quick walk from the Peninsula’s restaurants. I highly recommend it – we’ve always had a good time and left happy.
