Baja Sharkeez, located on the Newport Peninsula, is most well-known around Orange County as a great nighttime bar. However, what many don’t know is that it’s one of the best places to brunch! Let me share a little secret with you…
Served Saturdays and Sundays, Sharkeez brunch menu features classics with a twist, such as Grilled French Toast made with their sweet Hawaiian bread, and Banana Macadamia Nut Pancakes. For those looking for a more classic brunch, Sharkeez serves up many egg dishes, including my favorite- the “Rio Grande Omelette,” made with creamy avocado, Monterey jack and cheddar cheese, your choice of smoked bacon or applewood chicken sausage, roasted corn, and tortilla strips, topped with a delicious red chile sauce. Another delicious choice is their “Baja Huevos Rancheros,” which is two fried eggs served on a crispy tortilla layered with tri-tip steak and ranch beans. Each egg entrée comes with free chips and salsa, your choice of Hawaiian sweet bread or corn tortillas, and a choice of ranch beans or jalapeno cheddar potatoes. No entrée is over $12 (save substitutions of shrimp), and the portions are more than anyone can usually eat in one sitting!
Now on to the best part of Sharkeez brunch- FREE mimosas! When you purchase any brunch entrée, you receive free mimosas for one hour. As a mimosa lover, this little known fact is what makes Sharkeez my regular brunch spot on the weekends!
For those who enjoy a little hair-of-the-dog with your Sunday brunch, a lively atmosphere, and numerous televisions tuned into sports games, Sharkeez is sure to be your next favorite Newport spot!
